2022

Academia Grammaticorum Salensis Undevigesima

Salos Manor, July 24–July 30, 2022

It is our pleasure to invite you to the Nineteenth Salos Summer School of Linguistics, which will comprise lectures by invited speakers as well as a conference part that will give the participants an opportunity to present their research in an informal and friendly atmosphere. This year Gilles Authier (Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes, Paris), Östen Dahl (Stockholm University), Eitan Grossman (Hebrew University of Jerusalem), Guglielmo Inglese (University of Turin) and Uta Reinöhl (Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg) will be with us in Salos as invited speakers.

For more details, please download our programme for the conference and summer school.

WHERE

The conference and summer school will traditionally take place in the Salos manor, situated in Northern Lithuania. The charming and authentic manor in an “island” (salos in Lithuanian means islands) is surrounded by a lake (with a small beach), with an ancient park full of century-old trees.

While Covid has receded and attendance on the spot is no longer problematic, some will no doubt appreciate the possibility of joining us remotely, so our event will once more be held in hybrid mode. This will also enable us to include a few invited lectures in remote mode.

WHEN

The programme of this year’s event will be spread over five days, starting on Monday 25 and ending on Friday 29. Sunday 24 is arrival day and Saturday 30 is departure day.

PARTICIPATION

Participants are required to register by July 5 by filling in the form provided here.

If you would like to contribute a presentation to the Salos conference, please mark this on your registration form, with a provisional title and a brief abstract.

You are also welcome to attend without a presentation (online or on site). Please note that the accommodation in the manor is of limited availability, so make sure to register as soon as possible.

The fee for the participation on-site is 120 Eur (100 Eur for Association members and undergraduates). If you would like to support our Association by paying a greater amount, this will, of course, be appreciated.

ACCOMMODATION AND LODGING

Participants of the conference/summer school will be accommodated in Salos manor, in the same building where the event takes place. Due to a limited number of rooms in the manor the participants will be staying in shared rooms with 2-10 beds each. The rooms are plain and modest but clean and well taken care of. The WCs and showers are shared.

There are no restaurants or cafés nearby, therefore breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided (the cost is included in the participation fee). The simple meals prepared by locals are based on traditional Lithuanian cuisine. Please specify your dietary restrictions in the registration forms, so we can determine if we are able to comply with them. There are two small shops in the village where you can find sweets, snacks and drinks.

GETTING THERE

Salos Manor is located in Rokiškis district, approx. 150 km from Vilnius (location on Google Maps).

For participants coming from Vilnius there will be a free bus departing from Vilnius university on Sunday and coming back to Vilnius on Saturday.

For more information please visit our website and follow us on social media: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. Check out the moments from last year’s conference here and some images of the manor here.
