Please note that this year the summer school will host a conference consisting of two parts: 1) a session open to all linguistic research; 2) a special session “The Old Lithuanian: Language and Texts”.

The 15th international summer school Academia Grammaticorum Salensis Quinta Decima will take place in Salos, Lithuania on July 29 – August 4, 2018.

Amongst other activities, the programme will include 3 series of lectures on the following subjects:

  • Susan Rothstein (Bar-Ilan University, Israel), Semantics of counting and  measuring, cross-linguistic aspects of formal semantics
  • Fred Landman (Tel-Aviv University, Israel), Boolean operators in natural  language semantics
  • Jurģis Šķilters (University of Latvia), Representing space in Region Connection Calculus. Formal qualitative representation of Latvian spatial relations

The school will also host a conference consisting this year of two parts: 1) a session open to all linguistic research; 2) a special session “The Old Lithuanian: Language and Texts”.

Traditionally, the summer school will be accompanied by a series of musical events and performances.

Please pencil in the dates in your calendar and keep your eyes open for an official invitation to register and submit your abstract that will be announced at the end of April.

Academia Grammaticorum Salensis Quarta Decima

The summer school Academia Grammaticorum Salensis Tertia Decima will take place from 30 July to 6 August 2017 (arrival day 30 July) in the Salos manor (Salos, Rokiškis dist, Lithuania). The organization of our summer school is rendered possible by the gracious financial support of the Research Council of Lithuania in the form of a grant awarded to Vilnius University.

The invited speakers this year will include
Johan van der Auwera "Negation and Related Problems" (University of Antwerp, Belgium)
Claire Moyse-Faurie "Valency, Voice and Lexical Categories" (LACITO-CNRS, Paris)
Sonia Cristofaro "Typology and Diachrony" (University of Pavia, Italy)

We will also have a number of free slots available for those who would like to present the results of their work in various domains of linguistic research for discussion in a friendly and informal atmosphere. In October, 2012, the Lithuanian Science Council and Vilnius University have signed an agreement under measure VP1-3.1-ŠMM-07-K "Support to Research Activities of Scientists and Other Researchers" (also called the Global Grant Measure), Priority 3 "Strengthening of Capacities of Researchers and other Scientists" of the Operational Programme for Human Resources Development, providing for the implementation of the three-year international research project "Valency, Argument Realisation and Grammatical Relations in Baltic".
This project was initiated by a group of members of the Association Academia Salensis, and will be headed by Axel Holvoet.
Our website will keep you informed about current advances within this research project.
